The Miami Dolphins announced they have activated safety Patrick McMorris off the injured reserve list and waived safety Marcus Maye.
McMorris was selected by Miami in the sixth round (198th overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft. He played his final collegiate season at California (2023), where he started all 13 games and recorded 90 tackles (50 solo), 1.0 sack, one interception, eight passes defensed, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries and was named All-Pac 12 honorable mention. McMorris transferred from San Diego State, where he played four seasons (2019-22). He earned first-team All-Mountain West honors in 2021 and 2022.
Maye has appeared in 88 career games with 80 starts in eight seasons with the N.Y. Jets (2017-21), New Orleans (2022-23) and Miami (2024). He has totaled 435 tackles (299 solo), 4.5 sacks, eight interceptions, 29 passes defensed, five forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in his career. He originally entered the NFL as a second-round selection (39th overall) by the N.Y. Jets in the 2017 NFL Draft. Maye played collegiately at Florida.
