Miami Dolphins Make Roster Moves

The Miami Dolphins announced they have released tight end Jody Fortson Jr. and quarterback Mike White. The team also placed wide receiver Anthony Schwartz on injured reserve.

Fortson Jr. signed with Miami on March 15, 2024, after spending two seasons with Kansas City (2021-22). He appeared in 19 career games with one start, recording 14 receptions for 155 yards (11.1 avg.) and four touchdowns with the Chiefs. Fortson Jr. also appeared in two postseason games with one start for Kansas City in 2022. He originally entered the league as an undrafted college free agent with the Chiefs on May 13, 2019, following a collegiate career at Valdosta State.

Schwartz joined Miami's practice squad on Nov. 13, 2023. He played in 25 games with three starts during two seasons with Cleveland (2021-22), totaling 14 receptions for 186 yards (13.3 avg.) and one touchdown. He also had 10 carries for 96 yards (9.6 avg.) and one touchdown, and 15 kickoff returns for 322 yards (21.5 avg.). Schwartz originally entered the NFL as a third-round pick (91st overall) by Cleveland in the 2021 NFL Draft. He played collegiately at Auburn, where he finished 10th on the school's all-time receptions (117) chart and was also part the track and field team. Schwartz is a Pembroke Pines, Florida native and played at nearby American Heritage, where he helped the Patriots win back-to-back football state championships.

White, who signed with Miami on March 16, 2023, has played in 14 NFL games with seven starts and completed 196-of-313 career passes (62.6 pct.) for 2,219 yards, nine touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He appeared in six games with the Dolphins, completing 5-of-6 passes (83.3 pct.) for 74 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Prior to Miami, White played in eight games with seven starts with the N.Y. Jets from 2021-22, completing 191-of-307 passes (62.2 pct.) for 2,145 yards, eight touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He originally entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick (171st overall) by Dallas in the 2018 NFL Draft and spent his entire rookie season on the active roster before joining the Jets practice squad in 2019. White played collegiately at Western Kentucky.
