Miami won six of its last nine games of the season but fell 32-20 to the New York Jets on Sunday evening at MetLife Stadium.
We go Inside the Numbers, presented by BDO, to take a look at the most notable individual metrics, milestones and more from Miami's season finale.
Smith Continues to Notch Name in Record Books
Tight end Jonnu Smith caught nine passes for 56 yards (6.2 avg.) and a four-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to cut New York's lead to one possession.
The four-yard touchdown reception gave him sole possession of the franchise record for receiving touchdowns by a tight end. His eight touchdowns on the season tied a career-high set in 2020 during his tenure with Tennessee.
Smith also holds the single-season record for receptions and receiving yards by a Dolphins tight end. His 88 receptions on the season are the eighth-most in a single season in franchise history.
Achane Sets Season High
De'Von Achane recorded 11 carries for a season-high 121 yards (11.0 avg.) and a touchdown against the Jets. His 121 rushing yards are the most he's had in a game since Oct. 8, 2024 against the New York Giants, and his 11.0 yards per attempt was the fourth-highest rushing average by a player in a game this season.
Achane is the first player in franchise history to have six rushing touchdowns and six receiving touchdowns in a single season and one of five active players to do so. He is one of 16 players in the NFL to score at least 12 touchdowns this season.
The second-year back ran for 907 yards this year, surpassing the 800 yards from his rookie season in 2023. He totaled 1,499 scrimmage yards on the season, which is the third-most by a Dolphins running back in franchise history.
Sieler Reaches Double-Digit Sacks in Consecutive Seasons
Defensive tackle Zach Sieler totaled six tackles (four solo), 1.5 sacks, two quarterback hits and a tackle for loss in Sunday's game. He finished the 2024 campaign with 10.0 sacks.
Sieler is the first Dolphins player to record back-to-back seasons with 10.0-plus sacks since Cameron Wake did so in 2016-17. He finished second among interior defensive linemen with 10.0 sacks on the season, trailing only Seattle's Leonard Williams (11.0).
Sieler is the only interior defensive lineman with 10.0-plus sacks in each of the 2023 and 2024 seasons. His 20.0 sacks over the past two seasons lead all interior defensive linemen in the NFL.
37 Field Goals for Sanders
Kicker Jason Sanders converted two field goal attempts (26 and 28 yards) and two extra points against the Jets. His 37 field goals this season set a career high and were the fourth-most in the NFL this season. His 37 field goals finished as the second most in single-season franchise history behind kicker Olindo Mare's 1999 total of 39.
With his eight points on Sunday, Sanders' 2024 season totaled 137 points – 37 field goals and 26 extra points – for the third-highest point total in franchise history and the second-best output of his career (144 points, 2020).
Sanders is the only kicker in the NFL to make a field goal in each game played this season. He joins Garo Yepremian (1973) as the only kickers in franchise history to make at least one field goal in each game of a season.
Sanders ended the season on a 27-made field goal streak. He appeared in his 116th consecutive game, tying Mare for the ninth-longest streak in franchise history.
Dodson Continues Takeaway Streak
Linebacker Tyrel Dodson recorded his third interception of the season in the first quarter. He is the only linebacker and one of five players in the NFL to have three-plus interceptions since Week 12.
Dodson is the first Dolphin to record an interception in back-to-back games since cornerback Xavien Howard intercepted a pass in five consecutive games during the 2020 season. He added four tackles (three solo) and two pass deflections, marking 10 pass deflections in his career.
Individual/Team Stats and Milestones
Defensive tackle Calais Campbell recorded three tackles (two solo), a sack, a quarterback hit and a tackle for loss. The sack gives him 5.0 on the season and 110.5 in his career, becoming the 29th player in NFL history and one of three active players to reach the benchmark. It is the 14th season of his career with 5.0-plus sacks, tied for the fourth-most such seasons in NFL history.
Wide receiver Malik Washington recorded a 67-yard kick return in the second quarter, the longest kick return of his career and the longest by a Dolphin since Jakeem Grant's 101-yard kick return touchdown vs. Buffalo on Nov. 17, 2019. Washington added four catches for 48 yards (12.0 avg.), while returning three kicks for 122 yards (40.7 avg.).
Linebacker Emmanuel Ogbah totaled two tackles (one solo), a half-sack, a quarterback hit and a tackle for loss. It is Ogbah's sixth season of his career with 5.0-plus sacks and his second consecutive season doing so.
Several Dolphins achieved games played and started milestones. Offensive lineman Aaron Brewer appeared in his 75th career game, offensive lineman Isaiah Wynn made his 50th career start and quarterback Tyler Huntley appeared in his 25th career game.
