In 2024, linebacker Anthony Walker Jr. entered his eighth NFL season and his first as a member of the Miami Dolphins. It was a hometown return for the Miami native, who now plays home games at Hard Rock Stadium, just four miles north of the one he played in high school. From 2009-13, Walker Jr. played at Monsignor Edward Pace High School in Miami Gardens under head coach Anthony Walker Sr., his father.
After having his jersey retired in 2019 and being honored on the Spartans Wall of Fame, Walker Jr. returns to assist on the coaching staff alongside Walker Sr. After finishing practice and meetings at the Baptist Health Training Complex, Walker Jr. heads south to high school practice, coaching and mentoring the next generation of Spartans.
Walker Jr., a two-time captain, previously spent time with Cleveland (2021-23) and Indianapolis (2017-20) where he was drafted in the fifth round (161st overall) in the 2017 NFL Draft. In 2023, he was the Cleveland Browns Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year nominee, as well as the recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award that honors players who exemplify sportsmanship and courage.
